Buffalo Waterfront
A view of Buffalo and the Erie Basin Marina
Standing at the eastern edge of Lake Erie, Buffalo is home to a beautiful, exciting waterfront. At Buffalo’s historic Erie Canal Harbor, you can learn how Buffalo helped shape the country as the western terminus of the Erie Canal, tour WWII warships at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Museum, and attend hundreds of events throughout the year, from rock concerts to activities for kids. Then walk around the Erie Basin Marina, which features a national test garden and an observation tower with fantastic views of the city and Lake Erie.
Along Buffalo’s Outer Harbor, you’ll find trails for hiking, biking and birding, the Buffalo Lighthouse, Wilkeson Pointe, Seaway Piers, Times Beach, Tift Farm Nature Preserve, Small Boat Harbor, Gallagher Beach Pier & Union Ship Canal.
Along the Inner Harbor you will find many links to Buffalo's industrial greatness. Here we will examine the Ohio Basin, Buffalo River, Grain Mills & Historic Sea Way Heritage Trail.
Along the Niagara River we will examine a separate city once called Black Rock. Here we will see the Black Rock Channel, Black Rock Historical Society, Tow Path Park, Squaw Island Park, Bird Island Pier & Peace Bridge
